Sara Trobäck, violin

Swedish violinist Sara Trobäck has enchanted audiences around the world with her heart-warming style and deep artistic interpretation. At a young age, Sara has enjoyed a prolific soloist career, performing throughout her native Sweden and abroad. She made her London debut in 1999 with the London Soloists in St. Martin-in-the-Fields playing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. The following two seasons, Sara was invited back to perform the Brahms' Double Concerto for violin and cello in Queen Elisabeth Hall and Beethoven's Violin Concerto, again at St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Sara has also performed as a soloist with world-renowned orchestras such as the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and Musica Vitae. She has toured through several countries including Scotland, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal and China.

In addition to her career as a soloist, Sara relishes the intimate chamber music environment. In 2002, she was one of 5 'Young Artists' at La Jolla's SummerFest in San Diego, California. Sara returned to La Jolla to perform at the 2003 SpringFest Gala together with pianist Helen Huang. Recently, she formed Trio Poseidon with Swedish colleagues Claes Gunnarsson (cello) and Per Lundberg (piano).

Sara was born in1978 in Örebro, Sweden and began playing the violin at the age of five. In 1994, she joined the Gothenburg College of Music where she studied under Tibor Fulep, and in 1996 she entered the Royal Academy of Music in London under the world-renowned Gyorgy Pauk. In 2001, she graduated and was awarded a Dip. R.A.M diploma and the Dove prize for final recitals. Sara has also participated in master classes with Lord Yehudi Menhuin, Ruggerio Ricci, Franco Gulli, Dimitr Sitkovetsky and Joshua Bell. Of special note was Sara's exhilarating lesson with Russian virtuoso Maxim Vengerov, which was filmed by British television and broadcasted throughout Europe.

In 1996, Sara was a prizewinner of 'Juventus' in France, and in 2000 she won first prize and the audience's prize in the Julio Cardona International Violin Competition. The Swedish Music Festival Association appointed Sara 'Artist of the Year 2002'. Other prizes include the HRH Princess Alice's Prize, the Emily Anderson Prize, the Beare Prize, the Dorothy Grinstead Memorial Fund Prize and the Florence Hooton/David Martin Concerto Prize in which Sara played the Glazunov Violin Concerto with the Royal Academy of Music Sinfonia.

Sara has appeared several times on Swedish radio and television. She performed before the King and Queen of Sweden at the live broadcast of the Polar Music Prize Ceremony in 1993, and in England, she was chosen by Julian Lloyd-Webber to perform on GMTV. Sara is the soloist on three CD's, one of which is with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra for the label Naxos.
